EPDM Grade Sourcing for an Automotive Sealing Components Manufacturer in Thailand
Southeast Asia — Thailand — Synthetic Rubber

The challenge
A Thailand-based Tier 2 automotive supplier producing EPDM-based sealing components needed a reliable supply source after their incumbent supplier failed to maintain consistent Mooney viscosity across batches. Their end-customer specification required tight tolerance ranges, and batch-to-batch variation was causing rejection rates above acceptable thresholds.
Our approach
Essencia Trade worked with the customer to document the exact grade specification, processing parameters, and acceptance criteria. We identified two qualified EPDM supply resources, arranged retention samples and third-party rheological testing for both, and coordinated a trial shipment with full documentation including TDS, SDS, COA, and an independent inspection report.
Results
The trial shipment passed the customer's incoming QC with all parameters within specification. The customer transitioned to a regular supply programme with quarterly quality reviews. Batch rejection rate dropped from approximately 12% (previous supplier) to under 2% within the first year.
“The difference was that Essencia treated quality documentation as a deliverable, not an afterthought. That level of coordination matters when your customer is an automotive OEM.”
